Congresswoman Barbara Lee Releases Statement on Biden Administration Weapons Sale to Israel
Oakland, CA – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, released the following statement on the Biden Administration’s decision to bypass Congress on an emergency weapons sale to Israel:
“As we watch this dire situation in Israel and Gaza unfold, it is imperative that the government of the United States be accountable to the people of the United States. It's truly unacceptable that this administration transferred weapons to another nation without the approval of Congress. That is our most central responsibility entrusted to us by our constituents. I call upon the Biden Administration to provide a public explanation of their decision and implore them to ensure any and all future actions related to weapon transfers to the Middle East and the world be subject to congressional oversight.”
